TOONAMI 1997
A lot of my fascination with art, storytelling, and world-building started with anime, it still fuels me today. My childhood was filled with nights glued to Toonami, waiting for the next episode of Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, or Yu Yu Hakusho to air. Those shows were my introduction to narrative pacing, visual rhythm, and emotional payoff.
This series of animated posters revisits that foundation through modern eyes, pulling from classics like One Piece, Naruto, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Evangelion. Each piece distills what made those stories powerful. The tension, the brutality, the drama, the way they mirrored the chaos and growth of becoming a man.
Shonen, by definition, refers to Japanese comics and animated films aimed primarily at young male audiences, known for action-filled plots and moral intensity. This series celebrates that energy and examines how it shaped my youth and understanding of dramatic themes.
