TOONAMI 1997
Toonami 1997 began as a learning project centered around video editing, storytelling through motion, and the integration of text within image-based media. The goal was to better understand pacing, composition, and how narrative can be constructed through editing using tools like Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop. This included experimenting with frame isolation, sequencing, and writing custom dithering scripts to manipulate texture and image quality.
A lot of my interest in storytelling and world-building comes from anime, which made it a natural point of reference while learning these tools. Growing up watching Toonami introduced me to narrative pacing, visual rhythm, and emotional buildup. This project revisits that influence, using familiar material as a way to study how tension, timing, and composition can be translated into short-form video and motion-based graphics.
